CAYSA 2018 Fall Championships

This page will be updated as more information becomes available.

If you’re wondering why there’s a police helicopter in the parking lot on Saturday, see the bottom of this post.

Who

League Vice Presidents have been working since November 5th to validate points on league games and begin notifying qualifying teams. Any spots not accepted by qualifying teams will be offered to the next best team until all slots are filled.

11/05: See the current confirmed teams for the CAYSA Championships and Western District on the teams page.

The following groups will not be participating in the CAYSA Championships:

Division III, 15U and older. These were single bracket leagues, so standings during the season determine team rankings. STYSA has no Western District or State event for these groups.

Division III Girls, 13U & 14U. Top teams will advance directly to STYSA’s Western District Playoffs.

Division II Boys, 14U, 16U, 18U, 19U. Top teams will advance directly to STYSA’s Western District Playoffs. Depending on STYSA Western District allocations, we might need a game between the top 18U & 19U teams to determine which will represent CAYSA in STYSA’s combined 18/19U bracket.

Division II Girls, 12U-19U. Top teams will advance directly to STYSA’s Western District Playoffs.

When

The game schedules will be linked below when it’s prepared. Barring weather issues, all games will be played on November 10 & 11.

D2 & D3 Championships Schedule

Check In

Tournament check-in for all teams playing on November 10-11 will be at the CAYSA office in Manor on Friday (Nov 9) evening between 6pm and 8:30pm. Coaches or managers will need to bring all of the following:

  1. An official roster, signed by your club Registrar
  2. Player cards (laminated, with photos).
  3. KidSafe passes for all adults listed on the roster.
  4. A penalty point form signed by your league VP (these may be available at the check-in, check with your VP).
  5. Your registration fee, unless your club has sent a letter to CAYSA promising to cover your registration fee. Fee payment should be in the form of a check made out to CAYSA.  U11 & U12 teams: $300. U13 and older teams: $325.

The roster and penalty point form will not be returned to you; please make sure you have another copy.

At check-in teams will be required to sign a commitment form for both Western District and for State playoffs.  This form will state that if you qualify for STYSA’s Western District playoffs and, if applicable, State Championships that your team will attend these events. See STYSA’s page for more information about Western District and State playoffs.

During check in you will be provided with:

  1. Tournament rules
  2. Advancement rules
  3. Map of the fields

If you are unable to check in your team Friday night, you must get permission from your competition Vice President and either the Executive Vice President or the CAYSA Registrar to check in Saturday morning.  Under no circumstances will a team that is scheduled to play during the first time slot on Saturday morning be allowed to check in Saturday prior to the game.  If you don’t check in Friday night and there’s an issue with your paperwork Saturday morning at check-in you may not be able to play.  This could mean that your team will be turned away from the championships.  If you check in Friday and there’s an issue there is still some time to get it fixed.

Where

The CAYSA Championships will be played on November 10 & 11 at the Town & Country Sports complex in northwest Austin, near 620/45 and Parmer Ln. This facility has 3 different entrances with separate parking lots. Please see this page on the T&C site for information about fields, parking, and facility policies, including their thunder/lightning policy and warning system.

The HQ tent and results boards will be near the pavilion at the west end of field 22.

For teams travelling from out of town who will be staying overnight, the official hotel for the CAYSA 2018 Fall Championships is the Fairfield Inn & Suites Austin Northwest/Research Blvd where rooms for this event are available at the event’s group rate of $79.00 per night.

Extras

Our usual t-shirt vendor, Fine Designs, will be on site with t-shirts that can be customized. Look for them around the pavilion  and HQ tent near field 22.

There will be a heavy police presence in Town & Country’s Morris Rd parking lot on Saturday, including a helicopter, SWAT van, and more. This is part of an APD Day event with the Miracle League, whose field is on the south side of the Morris Road lot. It’s expected and it’s okay. They have invited us to go over and see the police equipment and some kids with unique challenges playing baseball, modified so they can safely enjoy the game.
